Parking Permits: An Added Level of Security For Your Parking Lot

March 16, 2011

Parking permits can help you deter crime in your parking lot by controlling vehicle access and enforcing parking policies. Depending on the amount of vehicle traffic in your lot, your company’s parking policies, and the time of day vehicles are at your facility, there are numerous types of parking permits you can choose from.

Hanging Permits vs. Adhesive/Static Cling Vinyl Permits: Hanging parking permits easily hang from rear-view mirrors in basically any vehicle. There are different sizes of hanging parking permits, depending on if you want to ensure the permit does not block the drivers view. Because hanging permits are typically made of plastic, they may warp or melt in high temperatures. Therefore, it’s important to ensure the material is durable and protected from peeling or fading.

Adhesive vinyl and static cling permits stick or cling to windshields or windows in vehicles. Adhesive vinyl permits can also be put on bumpers and other areas of a vehicle as needed. As with hanging permits, it is important to ensure the permits you purchase are weather-resistant and will not fade or warp in high temperatures.

Reflective vs. Non-Reflective: Most parking permits are non-reflective, but in some instances a reflective parking permit may be advantageous. If your facility has a lot of night or early morning traffic, a reflective permit will allow for easy identification in dimly lit areas.

Numbered vs. Unnumbered: You can also choose parking permits that have numbering. Numbering allows you to effectively keep track of individual vehicles and who is tied to each parking permit. This can help if there is a security issue or accident and  you need to know which vehicle belongs to which individual. Also, if your facility has a registration process for parking permits, numbering is the great way to track and assign parking areas.

So if you’re thinking about adding permits to your parking lot security system or ordering new parking permits, take time to consider different options to find the best fit for your company.

Understanding Homeland Security, by Mb

February 24, 2010

In light of several recent terror attacks on the United States it is now more than ever becoming increasingly important to understand the importance of Homeland Security. Not just for yourself, but for the safety of all those who work for you as well.

Keeping your employees up to date with a current threat level that the United States is under is a breeze when you have a flip style sign from Emedco. Posting these signs in the break rooms and at each employee entrance will help keep everyone ready for any safety procedures that may need to be taken. By knowing the level of threat that the country is under you can ensure that everyone keeps a vigilant eye out for potential trouble.

The flip signs are perfect because when the threat level changes you simply flip to the appropriate color and keep everyone in the know; no need for multiple signs. The parts that flip are color coded and represent different threat levels. These flip signs include:

GREEN LOW: Low risk of terrorist attacks.
BLUE GUARDED: General risk of terrorist attacks.
YELLOW ELEVATED: Elevated risk of terrorist attacks.
ORANGE HIGH: high risk of terrorist attacks.
RED SEVERE: Severe risk of terrorist attacks.

Do you and your employees even know what the current risk level is? You should…

Never again be caught off guard when you should be acting in a vigilant manner. It is everyone’s responsibility to be on the lookout for possible trouble and if you and your employees are knowledgeable of how serious the threat of attack currently are then you will also be that much more prepared should something happen. Emedco makes it easy for you and your employees to stay safer.
