Here’s a refresher of some changes outlined in the 2009 MUTCD edition published last December. We’ve been talking about these a lot lately so I thought I’d remind our readers.
1. Implement a plan for inspection day and night. Your business must come up with and document a plan that outlines an inspection process for daylight and night. Things to check during daylight: fading, chipping, rusting, graffiti. Things to check at night: reflectivity, readability, fading. Emedco’s Duroshield topcoat protects against all these imperfections and guarantees your sign will last a lifetime.
2. High-visibility apparel must be worn by all road workers. Workers who work on roadways must wear reflective vests. The stripes are visible during the day and at night. Emedco carries in-stock vests and customizable vests to meet all of your needs.
3. A minimum level of retro-reflectivity must be used on all Traffic Signs. Trying to explain to you the minimum level is very technical and pretty boring. The important thing to note is that Emedco’s High-Intensity Traffic Signs meet this level. If you’re looking to go above and beyond the compliance minimum, our Diamond-Grade Signs will exceed the regulation.
